Lakelands Train Station Nearing Opening June 11
It's great to hear that the new Lakelands train station is finally opening after a long wait for local residents. The community celebration that will mark the opening sounds like it will be a fun event with face painting, live music, giveaways, and a sausage sizzle.
The new station is expected to make commuting easier for residents in the north Mandurah suburbs of Lakelands and Madora Bay, who currently have to travel to either Mandurah or Warnbro to catch a train. The station will have an entry building, a pedestrian overpass, two platforms, a bus interchange, cycling facilities, and a 400-bay car park. It's also been future-proofed to accommodate more lifts, escalators, and fare gates as needed.
Mandurah MLA David Templeman has expressed his belief that the new station will support thousands of locals. However, there will be some changes to the current bus network, and local residents are encouraged to check the updated schedules on the Transperth website.
