A DRUNK motorcyclist who fell off his bike at traffic lights in front of police has been sent to prison.

Paul Horrocks pleaded guilty to excess 0.08 and having no authority to drive before appearing at Rockingham Magistrates Court on June 10.

The 50-year-old was stopped at a set of lights on Safety Bay Road when he lost control and dropped the bike.

He and his passenger both fell from the bike.

Nearby police saw the incident and breathalysed Horrocks.

He gave a reading of 0.115 grams of alcohol.

The duty lawyer said Horrocks had received a call from his brother telling him his mother had been admitted to hospital.

“He made the foolish decision to drive as he was upset and angry at the news about his mother,” she said.

Magistrate Leanne Atkins was annoyed this incident occurred not long after he was sentenced for a similar offence.

“Just over a month after being in court for the same offending, on the same Ninja motorcycle you were driving unlicensed again,” she said.
