Several WA families have been left heartbroken after memorial plaques were stolen from an East Rockingham cemetery.
Three generations of the Day family came to East Rockingham cemetery regularly to honour a much-loved father, pop, and Australian war veteran.
But today the copper plaque that honours him was missing, ripped off its headstone by thieves.
“I think it’s so wrong that people stoop so low- that take something from someone who died and served this country,” relative Kathleen Stanlake told 7NEWS Perth.
Seven other plaques, also honouring war veterans, have also been stolen just days out from Anzac Day celebrations.
The thefts come after an RSL branch was broken into in nearby Kwinana.
Two thieves trashed the branch, stealing only a dartboard but leaving behind plenty of damage.
Their faces were captures by security cameras.
Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
