STUDENTS from Makybe Rise Primary School in Baldivis and Rockingham Montessori School have won a street art competition in support of positive mental health.
The two projects won the Act-Belong-Commit Schools’ Take pART competition.
Colourful representations of this years’ theme of “Your Vibe Attracts Your Tribe” now adorn walls in Rockingham.
Art by Year 6 Makybe Rise students is at the Rockingham Centre.
The work by year 7, 8 and 10 students from Rockingham Montessori is at Venrock Finance on Goodard Street.
Local artists Samantha Prentice and Jacq Chorlton helped the students make their designs larger than life.
The competition was sponsored by the City of Rockingham and Healthway to encourage youth to express themselves artistically and culturally.
City of Rockingham Deputy Mayor Deb Hamblin congratulated the winning students for their outstanding artistic efforts.
“The work you will see at Rockingham Centre and Venrock Finance is a great example of the talents our local young artists have,” she said.
“Art like this can completely transform an otherwise plain public space and I congratulate all of the students involved for creating something that will leave a positive lasting impression on the community.”
